Background of the College

The Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma College is established after the name of great social reformer Kalicharan Brahma to keep alive his thoughts and ideology. It is the only degree college imparting higher education to the students of entire Parbatjhora Sub-Division since its establishment in 1999. The College has got permission and affiliation in 2013 from Gauhati University. Now the College has got its own examination Centre under Gauhati University. At present, the College has now been affiliated under Bodoland University and own examination centre for the benefit of the students and college authority.

The College is located about 60 K.M. North-West of Bodoland University, Kokrajhar and the college has its own land 7.50 hector of campus in a rural setup with significant infrastructure to run the courses. The beautiful natural trees which stand gloriously beside the college campus provide a peaceful and cordial atmosphere for teaching learning process. The area is densely inhabited by all the section of society generally tribal people.

Infrastructures and Inspiration of localities

It was the aspiration of social workers, politicians, educationists and common public for establishment of a higher educational institution since long. It came to true while the re-known social worker educationist and Founder and Ex- Principal of Tipkai Higher secondary school SRIJUT BATENDRA NATH BRAHMA came forward along with the local intellectuals for the establishment of Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma College at Tipkai. It is the 2s success of the local public after the “TIPKAI JR. COLLEGE” under the guidance of SRIJUT B.N. BRAHMA to have such a higher educational institution in the area. In his inspiration, the local public extended moral support and donations for raising the college fund.

The re-known merchant and social worker Sjt. Sahen Ch. Brahma donated a Assam type Class room measuring 140X30 sq. ft. in the name of his beloved mother Smt. Laheswary Narzary. The Class rooms are known after her name as “LAHESWARY NARZARY HALL”. And also, he donated a complete boundary wall including main gate in the memory of his father Lt. Manikchand Narzary.

Mission & Vision

To pant for action to achieve the predetermined objectives of developing the college as an institution of excellence and upgrading it to the status of a full-fledged under graduate college. Initial mission of the college was to spread higher education in preservation and creation of knowledge and inculcate scientific temperament among the rural areas of Parbatjhora Sub-division, besides providing accessibility of higher education to women and our Endeavour is to create competent and responsible citizens by optimum utilization of the existing resources.

(a) To provide higher education to the people of the area especially economically poor section.
(b) Removal of educational backwardness of the area.
(c) Accessibility of women to higher education.
(d) To impart quality education among the students. (e) To empower the weaker section of the people to gain employment.
